On our family farm, we specialize in breeding high quality Wensleydales, Teeswaters, Valais crosses, and purebred Valais Blacknose sheep. We take pride in sharing our flock of registered heritage longwool breeds, celebrated for their luxurious, lustrous fleeces. Central to our mission is the preservation of these remarkable endangered fiber producers, championing the cause of genetic diversity in our flocks.

Through our fiber products and the story of our farm, we aspire to ignite your curiosity about these breeds and perhaps even awaken the shepherd within you.

"Beautiful fleeces! My Wensleydale Rams I purchased last year are the best! They have stepped up the quality of my herd of Wensleydales tremendously."

Heritage Breeds

Breeding Stock & Fiber Flocks

We are dedicated to the conservation and preservation of heritage breeds.  We strive to bring as much genetic diversity as we can to these heritage breeds. Our flock includes registered high percentage Wensleydale, Teeswater as well as both purebred and percentage Valais Blacknose Sheep. Everything at Wild Rose Farm begins with the quality of care of our beautiful sheep. Our sheep are available for purchase as breeding stock or are perfect for those looking to start their own fiber flocks.

Raw Fleece

Just as it Came Straight Off the Sheep

Our fleeces get rave reviews from our customers for cleanliness, luster and quality. In twelve months the sheep’s locks can reach twelve inches in length. We generally shear our Wensleydales and Teeswaters every 10-14 months, and every 6 months for the Valais. Our raw fleeces are heavily skirted to remove dirt, hay, straw etc., making them valued by hand-spinners and crafters alike.

Yarn

High Quality Yarn from High Quality Sheep

Our Wensleydales, Teeswaters and Valais Blacknose sheep produce beautiful, long, lustrous, strong wool. We send the wool to spinning mills to produce gorgeous white and natural colored yarns and roving, as well as wider a selection of colors using natural dyes. The rest of the yarn goes on to Swans Island Blankets to produce a line of handwoven blankets and throws made from our wool.
